Third Sunday of Advent 2013: Joy to the World (audio)

This past Sunday I had the rare privilege of actually sitting in the congregation and listening to the sermon with my wife by my side. The reason? We had a "young" man, Caleb Young, who is a senior religion major at Roberts Wesleyan College and a local ministerial candidate through the Dansville Free Methodist Church, deliver the sermon.

I must admit I didn't make it easy on Caleb, and I don't mind saying it. Being a pastor is difficult work despite the "one day a week" that we actually do something, and this week Caleb faced the challenge of finals and two papers that were due, one of them a 20 page paper. This was also the first time he had prepared a sermon and delivered it in front of a congregation. Plus, it was during the Advent season leading up to Christmas. The story of the birth of Jesus is so familiar to many of us that sometimes it is difficult to learn anything new out of it.

What I will not do however is tell you in this blog how he did. Instead I will let you listen for yourselves. Below is the audio from Caleb's sermon yesterday. It is my hope you listen and take in what it means to have joy, the joy that came when Christ came to us.
