Fourth Sunday of Advent: Love (Audio)

As we are nearing the end of the Advent season, what stands out to me is that each Sunday builds off the previous. What began with hope and expectation entered into peace, which brings about joy, and it's all culminated in love. Love that God has for His creation. Love that would not allow us to simply turn our back on Him with no hope of restoration. Love that compelled the only begotten Son of God to set aside heaven and step into time and history, and eventually love that would take Him to the cross.

It's difficult to not think of Christmas in terms of Easter. Easter was the work that Christ did in order to restore us to a right relationship with God the Father.

Christ did not come into a sterile world where nothing bad ever happened. Maybe the world has become a little more efficient in how it carries out violence over the last couple thousand years, but the nature of sin is still the same. Yet God loved us, and He still does.

We take a step back in this sermon, and look at how the simple love of God from a humble little girl changed history forever. I hope you enjoy listening and I wish you a Merry Christmas.
