The Profound Story (Audio)

An important aspect to any culture is its ability to communicate its history and its identity to future generations as well as to other cultures who might demonstrate an interest in that culture.

However, great and profound truth is also communicated in the stories of different cultures. The Bible contains many stories that communicate important truth to both the Jewish people and to Christians. However, something we encounter today is this belief that the stories contained in the Bible aren't exactly true. Disciplines such as science seek to undermine the truth conveyed in these stories.

Yet the Bible is not a science book, and it's not a history book. It's a book that tells the story of God and how He has worked in history. The stories contained in the Bible may be familiar, but there is always something to be gleaned, to be learned. And the amazing thing is, as the stories are communicated from one generation to the next, we become part of the story.

Today's sermon deals with this. As we move into the season of Advent and Christmas, the story is one that is familiar to most of us, but it's a story that has deep truth, and it is one that has a great impact on us today. Take a listen and please let me know what you think.
